Selection of Countries for COP meetings

The Conference of the Parties (COP) meetings are held annually under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change ( UNFCCC ) to discuss global climate action. Here's an overview of how countries are involved and the selection process for hosting these meetings: Eligibility and Selection Process for Hosting COP Meetings Membership in the UNFCCC: Any country that is a party to the UNFCCC can propose itself as a host for the COP meeting. There are currently 198 parties to the UNFCCC, which include all United Nations member states, the European Union, and a few observer states.
